The Diploma is the Message: Doug Rushkoff Invents a Master’s Program That Matters
Anonymous said: Hi John, I'm currently in the market for a car and I would really like to get one as 'electric' as possible. Would you recommend the Chevy Volt?
If you want to get an all-electric vehicle and don’t drive long distances, I really like the Nissan Leaf, which is a great car and a lot less expensive than a Tesla. (If you have all the money in the world, get a Tesla.)
But if like me you sometimes drive more than 70 miles in a day, then I think the Volt is the perfect car for you. It’s VERY fun to drive—handles brilliantly, good 0-30 acceleration—and I use about 45 gallons of gas a year to drive 7,000 miles. (So I get something like 155 miles per gallon.) Charging is easy and super cheap: It costs me something like 50 cents to get enough electricity to drive my Volt 40 miles. I also haven’t had any mechanical problems.
The transition from electric to gas mode is seamless, and the interior is almost entirely silent. The sound system is great; bluetooth works perfectly; and because Chevrolet leased a lot of them, you can get a low-mileage used Volt for less than $25,000. (They remain very cheap to lease relative to sticker price.)
After two years of owning it, the Volt remains my dream car, and I wouldn’t want to drive anything else (not even a Tesla or, like, a Ferrari).

This Tree Is Growing 40 Different Kinds Of Fruit At Once
This single (and quite colorfully blossoming) tree grows 40 different varieties of peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, cherries, and even almonds — but just how does it do it?
It does it through the process of chip grafting. After sculptor Sam Van Aken bought a failing orchard in upstate New York full of hundreds of different fruit trees, he began the pain-staking process of grafting several of the different varieties together into one tree. Six years later, the result is this 40-fruit bearing tree, which includes some heirloom varieties that are centuries old.

Mehndi (or henna painting) in India is a very important part of the wedding ritual and ceremony. As the story goes, the deeper the color obtained on the skin, the longer the love between the couple will last; hence the belief that a proper mehndi application is tantamount to a prayer to the gods for everlasting love and a successful marriage.
"And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it’s time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don’t we’ll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can’t make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
So will the real men get up
I know you’re fed up ladies, but keep your head up”

he keeps asking me all these questions about aspects of feminism and he’s like “so basically it’s about letting women do what they want without being judged for it” and I was like yea and he was like “oh okay that’s so simple why isn’t everyone a feminist” it’s precious

The US version of Harry Potter is surprisingly short.
I’ve been laughing at this for like half an hour cause when Harry fires the gun it looks like he’s saying “BAM!”
Bam! Omg I’m dying
Someone reblogged this from me after I forgot about it and then I laughed for ten minutes and actually LEFT MY BED TO SHOW MY FAMILY
